Finally, My First Post!

I have wanted to create a photography blog for a while now, but life has a tendency of getting in the way! Having a baby in the house makes me feel like I am never “busy”, but always occupied.

My son, Kane, was born in November 2012, 7 weeks early.  In fact, it happened right in the middle of my long awaited flash course through the Canadian Photography Learning Centre (www.cplc.ca). Fortunately, I’m re-taking that course as I’m writing this. Dreaded flash, I will conquer you!!

Kane was in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton for 54 days and it was a bit of an emotional roller coaster, to say the least. Taking photographs of Kane helped me keep my sanity, as did reading the educational photography posts by Rob & Lauren on www.photographyconcentrate.com.

Fast forward to May 2013, Kane is now 6 months old and doing really well. Last night, he slept in his nursery for the first time, which is a big deal for mom, as he hasn’t slept in a separate room since coming home from the hospital!

Kane has reminded me of what’s important. Photography is important to me. I love capturing moments in Kane’s life. His smiles, his tears, his elbow dimples… Kane is my favourite readily available subject. Sorry Indy, you have been relegated to second favourite/baby accessory.

Prior to Kane being born, I had begun to explore wedding and family photography and I am looking forward to continuing to capture and share important moments in the lives of the people I care about. Although I don’t have an abundance of down time with Kane in my life, I think it’s important to stop putting off blogging about the photography I do for friends and family.

I would love for you to take a look at some of my recent work. But before we get to the weddings and families and babies of the 2013 season, here are some of my favorite photos of Kane Roberts Wolfe.

Please feel free to comment on the photographs and don’t hesitate to share this blog with others.

Enjoy,

Kristy Wolfe

Tummy time for the Wolfe Cub is not as traumatizing as it was now that Kane can roll from his tummy to his back.

For this picture I recruited my friend, Cuc, who was visiting from Prague, to get the shot I wanted. It's proving to be a challenge to take the photos and also be in some of them!

  1. I am so excited to watch your blog grow. You take amazing photographs that are artistic and natural.
P.S. My favorite picture of Sophia was taken by you.

  2. Wonderful pictures– you have a talent for pulling out that something special in everyone of them. Concern, pride, and love all very evident.

  3. Kristy (and Kane by extension) – the photos are beautiful. Chicks dig big brains and babies in Santa suits? Although personal favourites have to be the ones taken at beach and at Goldstream in Vic xx
