In Hospital Sessions – The sessions that really capture my heart are my in hospital sessions. My oldest son, Kane, is an NICU graduate and a cardiac kid. We know the Stollery Children’s Hospital well and it’s because of this I got into shooting families in hospital. This is normal for so many families and I think documenting this part of our lives is incredibly important for three reasons:
- to look back on and show our little warriors just how amazing they are
- to work through our own feelings about successes and challenges we have faced as a family
- to share with others in order to raise awareness and offer hope and encouragement to families facing a similar journey
Voluntography – Volunteer Session – I shoot for a Ronald McDonald House families every month. These sessions usually take place at or around the RMH or in hospital.
Bereavement Session – The final session I want to mention is a bereavement session. This is not something I hope anyone has to deal with, but the reality is that not every hospital family goes home together. If you know someone who is in this situation, please contact me, The Madden DeLuca Foundation or Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep.
I look forward to meeting you and your loved ones.
