Leading Through Stories: Blind Spots

When we think of blind spots from the perspective of leading from where we stand, we often associate these as negative traits. For example, we are missing some important piece of knowledge, we are unable to see the situation from another perspective, or we have unconscious attitudes and behaviours that we display when we are not at our best. However, identifying and understanding your blind spots, and choosing to do something about them, can foster better leadership. Knowing yourself is the first step.

In this episode:

  1. Community Question: What would your favourite people say your blind spots are? (Intro).
  2. Getting naked—the do’s and don’ts when asking for feedback (3:22).
  3. Understanding blind spots (5:38).
  4. How to identify your blind spots (7:40).
  5. The essence of a great leader and how we can support each other (16:18).
  6. What can you do about blind spots? Do you have the desire to change? (18:36).
  7. Take Back, Bring Back (19:34).

Leading through connection

Mary, Helen and I invite you to join us for a special one hour virtual connection event on Wednesday, March 16th 2022 at 7:30pm MST. Rather than a livestream this will be a zoom meeting (link will be sent via email) where YOU, our community members, have a chance to pour yourself a beverage, turn on your camera and join the conversation.

Feel free to bring a copy of your enneagram if you want to talk a little more about it. Haven’t tried it? Here’s the link to the enneagram personality test we did.
