It’s been a crazy week. The last week of June always is. And I seem to have loaded even more on my plate than usual. So I am sitting down to write this blog when it should actually be posting. If I was on my game, this post would have been prepared a few days ago. But life doesn’t always work like that.
Last weekend, I was shooting for AdaptAbilities, a not-for-profit organization here in Edmonton that supports families and individuals with special needs. I met their Founder and CEO, Michelle Hordal, at the Live Well. Lead Well. Conference I attended in the fall and we made a connection.
The boys and I spent some time at their West Jasper Place Centre located in the Orange Hub. They loved it. Probably because we told them to test out all their equipment!
Obviously, a fort was built.
This is just one of the spaces available for kids and teens in the Orange Hub. Some of the programs they offer include: out of school care, social nights, and weekend respite. In addition to five centres in Edmonton, AdaptAbilities also runs the Hearts in Action summer camp program.
Please share this information if you know families who would benefit from these services.
