Live Well. Lead Well.

This past weekend I was very fortunate to be able to head to the mountains with my Mayfield Elementary admin team for an educational leadership conference. Live Well. Lead Well. was hosted by the energetic Mary Michailides of Maria M Consulting.

Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity

We spent two incredible days with 50+ leaders from various school districts and other speakers from both public and private sectors focusing on big ideas like:

  • The joy of leadership
  • What does it take to lead?
  • Leadership through self reflection
  • Moving forward through difficult conversations

You guys I have so many ideas and I am truly inspired! The time to reflect and collaborate has been phenomenal. Mary also incorporated wellness activities like a hike up Tunnel Mountain and yoga with Jeff Mah of Yoga Lounge. Because in order to take care of others we have to take care of ourselves. We HAVE TO intentionally make choices about doing things we love, spending time with people we love, being active, asking for help…

Coming off of our school professional development on Friday and Live Well. Lead Well. our admin team has decided to make our focus this year “Making Learning Visible”. This is obviously a dream come true for me, because our plan is that I will get to use my camera to support our educators in telling the learning stories of our students. PERFECT!

Here is my learning story from the weekend.

Stay tuned. I am so excited to share more learning stories and make learning visible!

Oh and on the drive home we’re listening to Brene Brown’s new book, Dare to Lead.
