Our blog circle might be done, but I’m sure not! I’m a little late this week because I was editing a friend’s wedding I shot last weekend. But just before naptime today, I set up the shot I had been thinking about. Being a photographer’s choice week, I knew I needed to get in the photo. I was recently looking at some photos of Kane, when he was about the same age as Maverick is now, playing on the grass and I wanted to recreate these, but with my legs in the frame.
Because I only had a small window of time before meltdowns started, I grabbed my D90, dialed to auto (don’t tell anyone!) and laid it on the edge of the porch. I used the self timer, so that it would shoot a burst of 9 frames after a 5 second delay. Kane decided he was going to be my button pusher, which worked out relatively well; other than the shots of just grass when he tipped the camera over and the big fingerprint on the lens by the end.
The next few are my favourites. The sun went behind the clouds for a few minutes, so the lighting was much better. I also learned today that even if you set your camera to auto it will shoot whatever ISO you were last using. My ISO was set to 1250 which made my photos rather grainy, but on the flip side that allowed for a larger f/stop and a faster shutter speed. Lesson learned.
