Week 29 of 52 – Joy

Joy is two kids under three who share a room and are both sleeping! But it didn’t start out that way the night these were shot.

Mav always sticks his cute little butt up when he’s sleeping.

Our Clickin Moms assignment this week was to capture joy and I had a plan to shoot Maverick’s amazing happy smile. Until this happened…Maverick was fussing in his crib after both boys had been put to bed, so I headed downstairs to rub his back. My older son, Kane, began singing “You are my Sunshine” along with me. This was the first time he sang along with that particular favourite. Once I had gone back upstairs, I could still hear Kane singing over the baby monitor.

Our baby monitor happens to have video, which is important for the next part of the story.

Then, my heart almost burst, as Harrison and I watched Kane put down the book he was looking at, get out of bed, go over to Maverick’s crib, rub Mav’s head, and then curl up under the covers in his own bed to go to sleep. I cannot believe we managed to catch that moment between our boys.

So of course I headed down to get some shots of my beautiful sleeping babies!

But this is my submission for this week.

This is my submission for this week.

This post reminds me of my low light post from last year’s project 52. Sleeping babies are so freakin’ cute!

But wait, there’s more! A couple days later, I glanced over at the monitor in the morning and happened to see Kane hanging out in the crib with Maverick. Obviously, I grabbed my camera and headed downstairs.

Busted!

Busted! I love the way you can just see the top of Maverick’s head.

Alright, I'm done in here.

Alright, I’m done in here.

You have noticed the crazy light in the photos. The boys' room is in the basement and I had to open up the blinds (which I have never done before) to get enough light.

You may have noticed the crazy shaft of light in the previous photos. The boys’ room is in the basement and I had to open up the blinds (which I have never done before) to get more natural light to shoot.

Not quite sure what happened with our blog circle this week. I was ready and waiting. Hopefully I’ll catch up with them next week.
