Week 6 of 52 – Directional Light

This week our assignment was to incorporate directional light, and more specifically side light. I decided to introduce Kane to the heart lamp that we came across when we were clearing out my dad’s office.

It’s one of those lights that when you touch a certain spot the current goes to that spot. It made for a couple great shots (and a lot more not so great shots!!)

In this shot the focus was on the light, which really made it stand out.

This is my submission to Clickin Moms for this week.

This is my submission to Clickin Moms for this week. This shot was taken using my Nikon D700 with a 35mm 1.4 lens. My settings were ISO 5000, f/1.4, 1/50 sec.

February 7-14 marks Congenital Heart Disease Awareness Week. This heart lamp was one of three items in my dad’s office that felt like they were meant for Kane to have after my dad passed away recently. You’ll have to stay tuned for my blog on Heart Day (February 14th) that incorporates the other two items. Each of the items are heart related, as my dad was a cardiologist and Kane is a heart warrior. One in one hundred children are born with some kind of heart anomaly. Kane was born with two holes in his heart but ended up having open heart surgery for Supravalvular Aortic Stenosis just over one year ago. To learn more about Kane’s story, as well as how you can support kids (and parents of kids) with CHD please visit my blog post from last year CHD Awareness Week.

Please check out Amanda who is next up in our blog circle.
