Project 3 of 52 – Favourite

These are my favourite shots of my Dad and his grandson, Kane. My Dad passed away unexpectedly on January 8th, so even though this photo was taken a little over a year ago, it felt right.

This is my submission to Clickin Moms.

Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room.
I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you have always used.
Put no difference in your tone, wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Pray, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was, let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow in it.
Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was, there is absolutely unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well.

  1. Hi Kristy, I worked as a Dietitian in the same hospital as your Dad and often passed him in the halls. We never worked together or spoke but I remember him well. I always enjoyed passing by him as I felt kindness, compassion and dedication as I neared and in his wake. 30 seconds of calm in a hectic workplace. I am saddened by his passing and will remember his unspoken gifts.
    Sincerely, Erica
