Santa for Two

One of the great things about Maverick showing up early is that he got to go meet Santa this year instead of having to wait until next year. The not so great thing as a photographer, is a 2 year old and an 8 day old mean the camera is set to auto as you chase and entertain. Though, I did luck into having my mom in town again and my husband, Harrison, decided to join us, too. But as many of you know, no one replaces mom in a high stress situation!

Before leaving the house we took a couple shots, just in case everything hit the fan at the mall! This was shot in manual mode with natural light and I can totally see the difference.

We headed to Southgate Mall in the hopes that Santa Francis would be there again this year. Last year, we had an amazing experience, which you can check out in my post The Best Santa Ever! Santa Francis was not there, but this year’s Santa did a fabulous job of talking to Kane in my arms while he acclimatized to the whole idea of sitting on Santa’s lap. You could see the anxiety in Kane build as we got to the front of the line.

Kane was really excited when we got there. He kept trying to run up the exit ramp.

Kane has become interested in seeing his photo after I take it and that day was the first day he was really interested in pressing the buttons. So these next two are Kane’s debut foray into photography. Nice job, Kane.

First round was shot in auto just to make sure I got a couple of shots. Notice the candy cane bribery!

Then the photographer needed us to put the kiddos back so I switched to manual now that I had my safe shots and got one infinitely better!

You should have seen Kane try to break into this candy cane. Hilarious!

See you next year, Santa!
