My Turn…So Soon!?!

I couldn’t figure out a way to shoot my own birth photos, so I enlisted the help of my doula, Stephanie McKinnon, of Beautiful Beginnings. Not only, did Stefanie do a wonderful job of advocating for us during our birth by reminding us of options like jumping in the shower and trying different positions and comfort measures, but she also brings a camera to each of her client’s births.

I did manage to take a few photos before and after, but once again I had to leave the majority of photographic control in someone else’s hands. Stefanie graciously agreed to put her 35mm 1:1.8 lens on my Nikon D90 so I would have all the raw images and be able to process them how I chose. What you are seeing here is a collaboration of our efforts.

The following are some of my favourite (internet appropriate) shots.

Examining our newest boy

Oh, my friend, you better not be camera shy!

He loves me…and Movember

Maverick Anderson Wolfe made his debut at 5:47 am on Saturday, November 22nd, which also happens to be his big brother Kane’s birthday (AKA his time-traveling twin, according to their Uncle Brendan!) Maverick was born at 35 weeks and 5 days and weighed 7 lbs 5 oz. He was able to go home the very next day and has been getting used to life with the Wolfe Pack.

I love the way Maverick is looking up at his dad. You can just see the trouble they are going to get into!

Thanks again to Stefanie and the staff of the Royal Alex Hospital.
