Project 52 – Week 8 – Low Light

This week our assignment was to shoot in low light. I knew I wanted to try and get some shots of Kane sleeping in his crib. But, the scary part of photographing a sleeping baby is that if he wakes up then “mommy freedom” is over! So, a few different days this week I snuck in to his dim room, holding my breath and hoping that the click of the shutter wouldn’t disturb him. I was shooting with my Nikon D700 at ISO 5000 with my 50mm 1.4 lens wide open.

I was rewarded with this shot, as well as the one I used as the feature image.

Another day I waited too long and ended up with this gem.

Another day I must not have held my breath or the shutter click was louder than I thought or the dog barked at someone passing by or the glow from the iPad I was using as a light source pissed him off and…

Kane’s eyes flew open…

He stood up, stared at me and...

He stood up, stared at me and…

Lost it! This image is my submission to Clickin Moms for this week.
