2014 Challenge

In December I finally sprung for a membership to Clickin Moms. Just yesterday I had the chance to look through some of the posts and what should I come across…not one, but two challenges that are perfect for me in 2014. The first one I came across is called Me & My Kid(s) Monthly Photo Project. I had mentioned in an earlier post that my resolution for 2014 was to take a monthly self-portrait of Kane and I. See what I mean…I was meant to find this project!

The second challenge I found is called Project 52, which is “a personal project, completed in a group setting, revolving around one picture/theme per week for one year.” What sold me was the theme for the first week, You: A Self Portrait, well that and the fact that it isn’t a 365 day commitment!

This is my submission for Week One of Project 52

The other reason I thought Project 52 would be a good challenge for me to take on was because it would be a great way to continue to refine my skills with projects that I wouldn’t necessarily choose for myself. Well, maybe not this week’s project!!

Even before I came across either of these challenges, I had wanted to do a self-portrait of Kane and I with his bad-ass new scar. As many of you know Kane had heart surgery two weeks ago, which I documented in my post My Heart Warrior. Kane is recovering really well and his chest incision is almost healed. He is one tough kid!

Here are a few more of my favourites from this morning’s session.

If either of these projects interest you, you can follow my blog or just keep your eyes out for posts titled Project 52 and Me & My Kid. I promise as I get more practice with self-portraits my focus will improve!
