About a month ago I dropped by Ronald McDonald House to deliver photos to one of my voluntography families. While I was there, I stopped in to see my contact, Megan, who is the Education and Recreation Coordinator. I wanted to find a way to offer family photos for Christmas and we ended up deciding it would fit in really well with the 12 days of Christmas activities going on at the house.
So, last night I got to meet and photograph some of the kids staying at Ronald McDonald House this holiday season. A few of the kids I met are currently patients of the Stollery Children’s Hospital, while others are staying at the house with their family while a sibling is in hospital.
Angel, Michelle, Brian & Joan were on their way out to a school Christmas concert. So glad I caught them before they had to go!
Michelle may have been the quietest one out of her siblings, but she was excited to have her photo taken.
You may remember Katie from the Chicks Dig Scars post. Her little brother, Sam, is back in Edmonton for surgery. Katie celebrated her fourth birthday a few days ago with some of the other girls at RMH.
Three-year-old Hailey is up from Calgary, while her sister is in hospital.
Six-year-old Lalla went up to her room and put on a beautiful dress and tiara just for her photos.
I’m so glad Lalla’s mom, Siham, wanted to be in some of the photos.
I also got to take part in the evening Christmas activity. We put together the ingredients for “Reindeer Cookies” and then decorated the jars. What a great Christmas gift idea to do with kids!
Katie did a great job of measuring (and sneaking) the M&Ms!
Megan helped Lalla make sure all the M&Ms made it in the jar.
I put some serious efforts into curling these ribbons!
Wishing all of these kids, their families and the RMH staff a and a speedy recovery to each little warrior fighting their battle.
