Actually, Kane (AKA Hurricane Wolfe) is nine and a half months old. But having lived through it, I would say nine months and nine and a half months aren’t all that different. The following is our general schedule: wake up, diaper change, play, eat, cry, sleep, repeat : )
Lately, I have been swamped with editing photos for a couple of different shoots and I feel like I’ve neglected taking photos of my favourite little man. Therefore, this next week is devoted to Kane. The timing is perfect because Harrison, my husband, is going to be out of town on business, so this way he can see some photos of Kane while he’s away.
This project also gives me the opportunity to improve my skills with the D700 that I have been using more consistently as of late. Still working on perfecting my focus. Who am I kidding? I’m still working on perfecting my focus with my beloved D90 which I’ve been shooting with for 2 years!
The D700, along with my 50mm 1:1.4 lens will be travelling with me to all of the activities Kane and I are doing. Ready for a taste of mommyhood Wolfe-style?
Anyways, here are a few photos to kick start Project HurriKane:
Boucing backlit baby
Hanging with the neighbours
Kane and Jordyn with their dads
And he goes for it!
This is what we will not be doing this week. I just mounted the Wee Ride Kangaroo Carrier today. Unfortunately, haven’t been able to find a helmet for Kane’s little melon.
Watching the NFL season opener with Dad.
Day 2 – Friday
Getting used to the throne.
Enjoying puffed rice with a pincer grip.
Kane managed to stand behind his train for a few seconds.
Self portrait of physio stretches completed while napping on Indy’s walk.
Kane got cuddle love from Mom’s partner teachers, Alina and Avery, when we went to meet the new grade 7 students. Mom’s going back to work in November.
Making sure Dad’s face is nice and relaxed before his trip.
Day 3 – Saturday
Loving the Saturday morning shower.
In trampoline jail with our neighbour, Jenna.
Rainy day farmer’s market excursion. Somehow we lost Dad’s jerky.
Looking dapper for dinner at Jordyn’s house. And yes, those are two teeth you see.
Maybe I can get her shirt off again…
Our other neighbour, Maryn, helped keep Kane entertained.
Keeping an eye on Dad’s pickles.
And he’s out!
Day 4 – Sunday
A little more alert in the carrier today.
Heading home from the dog park.
Waiting for lunch.
Kane can’t wait to help.
Naked photo shoot in the backyard anyone?
Look at those teeth!
What’s a backyard photo shoot without Indy?
My assistant, Kane, helping out with Lyla’s shoot.
And a big kiss for his efforts!
Day 5 – Monday
Putting in time at “the office”, a phrase coined by my friend, Therese.
The boss was there to make sure there was no slacking off.
A little early for Rockbottoms at Terwillegar Rec Centre.
Locked in the stroller while Mom gets her workout in.
Then off to Superstore for a ride in their cart.
Exhausted after all that activity!
Hung out with Sophie and Bella before Meet the Teacher Night began.
End the day with one of Kane’s favourite activities.
Where he reached out to a new friend!
Day 6 – Tuesday
Kane and Maelle sharing shakers at the library.
Ben’s smile tells you what he thinks of his shaker!
After library we had some buddies over and I realized how difficult these group baby photos are! No one took a header off the couch, though Ben tried.
Tor, Ben and Kane showing off their standing skills.
Friends or fighting for a ball?
Teresa, I’m continually impressed with your ability to handle twins.
The boys keeping themselves entertained during the Moms on the Move class.
Rachelle is great about cuddling babies so moms get their full workout in.
But when it was another baby’s turn for cuddles Kane was less than impressed.
Rachelle is the owner of Momentum Health & Wellness. She runs pre and postnatal fitness classes out of the Lucina Centre and is the subject of one of my earlier blog posts.
Day 7 – Wednesday
Project HurriKane was a lot more work than I expected. The shooting part was fabulous. The editing part was a little tedious because it took over my life every night! I definitely enjoyed it, but now I feel like I need to take a vacation from my computer and, more specifically, Lightroom! But mission accomplished, Harrison was able to see new photos of Kane while he was away.
Mom & baby yoga at Whole Family Health. Really just mom yoga while baby rolls around on the floor.
Sweet old man shoes!
Walking to sushi with Doula Jen.
I’d rather play with the chopsticks.
Jen found a great holding spot for Kane while she got his bath ready.
Team bath, what a lucky guy!
I hope you enjoyed viewing a week in the life of Kane. The final photo is a flashback to where we were nine months ago.
I love you to the moon and back.
